A New Beat for Den Bosch
For years, a common complaint within the Dutch queer community has been the centralisation of nightlife. If you want a great, inclusive night out, the path often leads to the bustling cities of the Randstad. But what about the vibrant communities elsewhere? Local presenter and 's-Hertogenbosch native Remco de Vaan is tired of the silence, and he's decided to do something about it with a new party: Club Joehoe.
"I've been carrying this idea with me for a while, and I'm so excited to finally share it," says De Vaan. "There's hardly anything left in this region when it comes to great gay nights out. There's a real need for a welcoming, safe place to party outside the major hubs."
Back to Basics: Music, Vibe, and Connection
Club Joehoe isn't trying to be an avant-garde art installation or a flashy, over-the-top spectacle. The goal, according to De Vaan, is to recapture the essence of what made classic queer parties so special.
"Think of it as a place where people can just come together to dance and be completely themselves," he explains. He fondly recalls iconic local nights of the past, like DE Pink at the Orangerie, which are still spoken of with a sense of nostalgia. "Those were nights that were all about the atmosphere and the community. In recent years, not much has come along to replace them, or it's taken on a completely different character. I want to make that old-school way of going out fun again."
The Soundtrack of the Night
Musically, Club Joehoe promises a vibrant mix designed to get everyone on the dance floor. Expect a blend of timeless gay classics, powerful queer anthems, modern house, and high-energy remixes, all brought to life with a state-of-the-art light show and special performances.
Open Doors, Open Minds
While born from the gay scene, Club Joehoe is designed as a space for the entire community and its allies. The philosophy is simple: everyone is welcome, as long as you bring an open mind and a desire for a fantastic night out. It's about creating a safe, inclusive environment where connection and celebration are the main focus.
"We're really going to pull out all the stops," De Vaan promises. "After all, we have some lost time to make up for."
