A Major Step Forward for Survivor Support in Amsterdam

In a significant move to improve access to essential care, the Amsterdam-Amstelland Center for Sexual Violence (CSG) has announced a major expansion of its walk-in hours. Starting January 12th, the center will be open seven days a week, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, providing a safe and accessible space for anyone who has experienced sexual violence.

This change is a vital development for our community. It means that immediate, in-person support is no longer limited to standard business hours. Help is now available in the evenings and throughout the weekend, times when survivors may feel more able to reach out or when incidents, unfortunately, can occur.

Comprehensive Care in One Safe Space

Located at Elisabeth Wolffstraat 4, the CSG is more than just a walk-in clinic; it's a central hub where all necessary support is available under one roof. This integrated approach is crucial for survivors, as it eliminates the stress of navigating multiple agencies during a time of crisis. The center provides:

  • Medical professionals for immediate care and forensic examination.
  • Psychologists for emotional and psychological support.
  • Victim advocates to help navigate legal and support systems.
  • Contact with the police, available only if the survivor chooses to pursue it. The decision to report is always yours.

This model ensures that survivors receive coordinated, expert care in a single, secure location, empowering them to make informed decisions about their next steps.

Support for Every Experience

The CSG emphasizes that its doors are open to everyone, regardless of the circumstances. It doesn't matter if the experience was recent or happened long ago. Support is available whether the incident occurred at home, during a night out, at work, or online. For the LGBTQ+ community, having a professional, non-judgmental service like this is incredibly important, ensuring that everyone receives the respect and care they deserve.

How to Get Help

If you or someone you know needs support, you can reach out in several ways. You do not need an appointment to visit.
