A Look Ahead to Pride in the North

Organisers of Pride Week Fryslân have released an ambitious and detailed programme for its June 2026 edition. The multi-day celebration will span several cities and towns across the province, offering a wide array of activities designed to cater to the entire spectrum of the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. The schedule includes everything from city walks and film nights to creative workshops and a Pride Walk in Leeuwarden.

The extensive schedule highlights the growing importance of regional Pride events in the Netherlands, providing visibility and community connection outside of the major metropolitan areas. Below is a guide to the planned events for Pride Week Fryslân 2026.

Tuesday, June 2

Creative Meet-up in Drachten
An afternoon for creativity and connection. A chance to meet new people and contribute to an inclusive Smallingerland.

Thursday, June 4

Pathé Pride Night
The monthly film night with a queer theme presents a pre-premiere screening of 'Jimpa', starring Olivia Colman and John Lithgow.

Saturday, June 6

'Uit de Kast' City Walk in Franeker
A city walk through historic Franeker, including a visit to the Planetarium and Museum Martena, which houses the oldest 'kast' (cabinet/closet) in the Netherlands.

Colorful Motorcycle Tour
A scenic and relaxed group ride through the province for all motorcyclists, with a stop for lunch.

Sunday, June 7

Chosen Family Day in Sneek
A relaxed day for the community with conversation, canoeing, paddleboarding, and pizza.

Meet-up for Family & Friends
A coffee and tea meet-up for parents, relatives, colleagues, and friends of the queer community to connect and share experiences.

Protest Sign Making at Café ‘t Pareltje
A café night with workshops, an expo, music, and drinks, focused on creating signs for the upcoming Pride Walk.

Pride Walk Leeuwarden
The central event of the week, a colorful march through the city center to promote diversity, inclusion, and equal rights.

A unique afterparty at the Fries Museum with DJs, performers, and more.

Pink Walk in Drachten
A walk centered on Pride and inclusivity, organized by the Drachten Library.

'Damespad' Leeuwarden Walk
