Rotterdam's LGBTQ+ sports club, Ketelbinkie, has announced it will host the Sailor Games, a multi-sport tournament, on 20 June 2026. Registrations have officially opened for the first two disciplines: volleyball and squash.

The Sailor Games is being organised as an inclusive event for LGBTQ+ athletes and their allies, with a stated focus on combining friendly competition with community building. The main tournament day is set for Saturday, 20 June 2026, with social events planned for the surrounding days.

Registration Open for Volleyball and Squash

Athletes can now register for two of the five planned sports. The organisers have indicated that spots, particularly for volleyball, are limited and may fill up before the official deadline.

Volleyball
The mixed volleyball tournament will feature 20 team spots across four levels (B, B-, C+, and C). Teams should consist of 6 to 8 players. The registration fee is €44 per person, which includes lunch on the day of the tournament. Play is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM at the Slaak Sportshal. Registration will close on 20 May 2026, or sooner if all spots are filled.

Squash
The squash competition has a registration fee of €45 per person. The tournament will commence at 10:30 AM at the Victoria Squash facility on Kralingseweg in Rotterdam.

Full Sports Programme and Social Events

In addition to volleyball and squash, the full programme for the Sailor Games will eventually include running, walking, and mountain biking. Information regarding registration for these events is expected to be released at a later date.

The event extends beyond the sports venues. A welcome reception with drinks is planned for the evening of Friday, 19 June 2026, to allow participants to meet before the competitions. The tournament will conclude on Saturday evening with an award ceremony and closing party at Ferry, a partner venue in Rotterdam.

About the Organiser

The Sailor Games is organised by Ketelbinkie, a volunteer-run sports club that serves the LGBTQ+ community in the Rotterdam area. The club offers a variety of sports and aims to provide a welcoming and safe environment for its members.
