Rome's annual Pride celebration combines political demonstration with a wide-ranging cultural festival. For visitors from the Netherlands and across Europe, it offers an opportunity to experience a major LGBTQ+ event in one of the continent's most historic cities. Here are the key details for the 2026 edition.
The Main Parade (Grande Parata)
The central event, the Grande Parata, is set for the afternoon of Saturday, June 20, 2026. The procession traditionally begins at Piazza della Repubblica and moves through the city, culminating near the Roman Forum. The route's path past the Colosseum provides a distinctive backdrop for the march, which draws thousands of participants and spectators each year.
La Pride Croisette: A Month of Culture and Community
Leading up to the parade, Roma Pride will host La Pride Croisette, a cultural festival running from May 28 to June 20, 2026. The events will be centred at Viale delle Terme di Caracalla, transforming the area into a Pride village with a focus on art, music, and dialogue.
- Music & Performances: The festival will feature a series of concerts and special event nights. The opening night will include a performance by artist Margherita Vicario, with other major Italian artists like Levante, Francesca Michielin, and Malika Ayane also scheduled to perform during the festival.
- Out Loud Talks: A key component of the Croisette is its series of free, open-air discussions. These talks will cover topics related to civil rights, political engagement, and contemporary queer culture in Italy and beyond.
- Circuit Nights: Popular club night Muccassassina will host several events throughout the festival, providing a consistent nightlife option for attendees.
Nightlife and Parties
Beyond the official festival grounds, Rome's nightlife will be active throughout the Pride period. After the parade on June 20, many attendees gather on Via San Giovanni in Laterano, the city's main gay street, where bars and clubs host street parties.
Several major parties are also planned for the final weekend:
- Rock Me Pride: The official after-party is hosted by the 'Rock in Roma' festival at the Ippodromo Capannelle, a large outdoor concert venue.
- Manicomio & Gorillas: These two party brands will collaborate for a large-scale event at the Frutta E Verdura club on the night of the parade.
- Other notable parties such as GIAM and the pop-focused Poppe are also expected to host special Pride editions. Dates and venues for these will be confirmed closer to the event.
