Designer Corné Gabriëls presents WARDROBE STORIES in his atelier, gallery and shop in Amsterdam, as part of the Pride Art Route.
The exhibition brings together new and earlier works, ranging from textile-based artworks and autobiographical pieces to works rooted in his ongoing fascination with dress codes, identity, emotion and masculinity. Textiles, clothing and accessories lose their original function and transform into poetic and personal expressions.
A wardrobe can be a place of self-expression, but also of concealment. Moving between what is hidden and what is revealed, the works explore the stories we carry with us, both inside and out of the closet.
The atelier simultaneously functions as a workspace, gallery and shop, offering visitors not only the opportunity to experience the exhibition, but also a direct insight into Gabriëls’ artistic world and working process.
