Wijnand Looise (Baarn, 1956) studied Architecture in Delft. In 1979, he performed 35 times in the queer theatre production Aaardige jongens. He also wrote song lyrics, including De Interabnormale for the Valse Nichtenkoor. He served on the first board of the Gay Games Amsterdam and was involved in organizing the first Transfusion Festival in 2007.
Last year he exhibited Bulges and Chesthair Portraits, but for this exhibition he selected paintings of free queer men in pleasant surroundings — feel-good paintings for dark times. In addition, he presents a series of unique hand-painted refrigerator magnets featuring “Charcuterie” — or “cold cuts” — designed for the fridge door.
