Pop superstar Ariana Grande has announced the launch of The Brighter Days Ahead Foundation, a new charitable initiative focused on directing funds to small, on-the-ground organizations. The foundation will prioritize groups working on LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and reproductive justice.
In a statement released on social media, Grande explained her motivation for formalizing her philanthropic work. "It has been my privilege to be able to support these causes on my own over the years," she wrote. "I’m grateful to now be able to expand that reach and amplify the life-saving work that these organizations do through The Brighter Days Ahead Foundation."
A History of Support
The move is a continuation of Grande's long-standing support for the LGBTQ+ community. In 2022, she notably created a fund to protect transgender youth and personally matched donations up to $1.5 million, helping to raise over $3 million for organizations providing direct support and advocacy. This new foundation institutionalizes her commitment to these causes.
How the Foundation Will Work
The Brighter Days Ahead Foundation has outlined several key areas of focus. Its structure includes dedicated funds to address specific needs:
- The Protect & Defend Fund: This will support grassroots groups advocating for LGBTQ+ rights, civil rights, and reproductive justice.
- The Seen & Celebrated Fund: This initiative is designed to help “ensure LGBTQ+ voices are heard and shared.”
- Emergency Support Fund: Aimed at providing rapid aid during crises, this fund has already provided grants to organizations such as Humanity Crew, New York Cares, and the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund.
The foundation's name appears to be a reference to Brighter Days Ahead, a short film Grande co-directed as a companion to her 2024 album, Eternal Sunshine. The announcement was met with positive reactions from fans and fellow celebrities, including West Side Story actress Rachel Zegler.
While the initial focus seems largely based in the United States, the emphasis on funding smaller, grassroots organizations is a significant model.
