AMSTERDAM – The Internationaal Theater Amsterdam (ITA) has announced it will host a special art exhibition titled "Pride Art Expo: PEEKABOO" as a central part of its Pride Amsterdam programming. The free exhibition will be held in The Bookshop at the ITA from 25 July to 7 August 2026.
The showcase is curated by Dutch multidisciplinary artist Zjef van Bezouw, whose involvement with Pride Amsterdam dates back to the 1990s. Van Bezouw, an alumnus of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy and DASARTS, is known for his work in performance, immersive spaces, and design. His curation for "PEEKABOO" aims to bring together a selection of works that highlight the diversity, strength, and beauty of the LGBTQIA+ community.
According to the ITA, the exhibition will also function as a preview, offering visitors a glimpse into the broader range of queer art being displayed across Amsterdam during the Pride festival. The stated theme focuses on unity and connection as a response to social division.
Additional Programming and Practical Details
Alongside the visual art, the venue will host a series of "Quickies," which are 30-minute live performances by young artists. The theatre's Pride schedule also includes a run of Wachten op Marsha, a performance by Raymi Sambo Maakt about the origins of the struggle for equal rights.
An official opening for the exhibition is scheduled for Saturday, 25 July, from 18:00 to 22:00.
