In this debut performance, dancer Vincenzo Turiano tells a moving story about freedom and vulnerability through dance, comedy, a light show, music, and spectacular costumes.
For Vincenzo, the love for dance and theater began in their parents' wardrobe. The closet was a playground where you could become anything. Dancing was a way to discover yourself. But the costume workshops of classical ballet were different. The choreographies were made for either man or woman, and the costumes began to feel like armor.
In Freedom is a Dancer, the non-binary dancer breaks free from all these expectations. Dancing, Vincenzo tears off the tight uniform. They then transform into a naked, dying swan, dance on pointe in a mirror suit that reflects everything, and proudly display a multi-colored, four-meter-high peacock tail. Spectacular light projections take you into a playful world full of imagination. Vincenzo tells their personal story of pain, passion, and resilience through dance and comedy. The dancer's courage to remain a free person in this day and age is inspiring. A guaranteed party!
"Vincenzo is so different, but so pleasant to watch."
