Rostam, full name Rostam Batmanglij, is an American songwriter, producer, and composer of Persian descent. He became known as a member of Vampire Weekend, for which he produced the first three albums and played a key role as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter.
Since leaving the band in 2016, Rostam has built a versatile career as a producer and solo artist. He has worked with artists such as Frank Ocean, Clairo, Charli XCX, HAIM, Solange, Lykke Li, and Carly Rae Jepsen. Additionally, he has released two acclaimed solo albums: Half-Light (2017) and Changephobia (2020). He also composes music for film and television. His own music combines indie pop, electronica, and experimental influences with warm melodies and layered production. His third album American Stories will be released in 2026.
