On a festive evening at the Koorenhuis, we celebrate the people and initiatives dedicated to an inclusive, visible, and strong queer community. The municipality of The Hague initiated this biennial ceremony to put the city's queer role models, activists, and organizations in the spotlight. The evening is all about meeting, inspiration, and recognition. You will get to know special stories, enjoy surprising performances, and experience the exciting presentation of the The Hague Queer Awards.

What to Expect

The program, hosted by Hasan Gök, will guide the audience through the evening, introducing the nominees and their impactful stories.

The Awards

A key part of the evening is the presentation of the awards. In the 'Queer Promise 2026' category, you will meet three nominees who have recently or innovatively committed to queer visibility, acceptance, and connection. This will be followed by the festive announcement of the winner. Later in the evening, the nominees for 'Queer Icon 2026' will take center stage. These are three initiatives, organizations, or individuals from The Hague who have long been dedicated to the community. They too will share their stories before the winner of this special distinction is revealed.

Performances & Socializing

Throughout the evening, the award presentations and conversations will be interspersed with performances by queer creators and performers, including spoken word, dance, and music. This creates a varied and festive program with space for different perspectives, experiences, and forms of expression from the queer community.

The evening concludes with a spectacular performance and a group photo opportunity with the winners and nominees. Afterwards, there will be ample opportunity to chat during a festive reception—a great chance to meet new people, exchange experiences, and celebrate what The Hague's queer community has to offer.
