Nothing is as it seems in this brand-new queer variety show from de Roze Bubbel! A colorful collection of performing artists, from comedy and drag to music, poetry, absurdity, and more, takes you into the wonderful world of illusions, appearances, and hidden stories. We wander through hidden queer stories and sanctuaries where people could be themselves, places that sometimes went up in smoke with a single spark, a single decision, or a single snap of the fingers. SMOKE & MIRRORS is an evening where spectacle and history, humor and melancholy constantly switch places. Because sometimes an illusion tells more truth than reality.

About de Roze Bubbel

De Roze Bubbel is a platform for queer performing arts in the broadest sense. We offer space for expression, vulnerability, activism, and humor, and bring diverse voices together on one stage. In our bubble, safety coexists with humor, and personal or social themes are not avoided but shared. We create encounters between creators and the audience with an eye for each other as fellow human beings. It is a place to be visible, to experiment, and to celebrate together. From this vision, we develop cultural projects in various places, such as theaters, cafes, conferences, living rooms, and events. We work with both novice and experienced performing artists and offer a stage to creators who want to show new work or are stepping into the spotlight for the first time. Our projects often take the form of queer variety shows, in which short acts follow each other in quick succession. The style is deliberately makeshift, organizedly chaotic, and familial.
