The organizing committee for Utrecht Pride has published the full programme for its 2026 edition. The city will host eleven days of events from Tuesday, 27 May, through Saturday, 6 June, culminating in the well-known canal parade (botenparade) on the final day. The schedule offers a broad mix of activities, ranging from political discussions and cultural exhibitions to sports, parties, and community workshops.
Cultural and Community Focus in the First Week
The programme begins with a clear focus on community engagement and culture. The first week includes:
- Political and Artistic Openings: The events kick off on May 27 with a screening of the film 'Pride', setting a political tone. This is followed by a GSA day focused on diversity and the opening of the 'Queer!' photo exhibition on May 29.
- Museum Collaboration: The Catharijneconvent museum hosts several events on May 31, including 'Queer in de kerk', 'Non Conform', and 'Wie niet weg is, is gezien', exploring the intersection of faith and queer identity.
- Community Gatherings: Social events like a Leather Social (May 30), a Queer Crafting session (May 31), and a book presentation for the 'Optimistisch Queer Handboek voor Hardere Tijden' (May 31) are scheduled to provide varied spaces for community connection.
Activities and Socials Leading to the Main Event
As the week progresses, the schedule expands to include more active and social events designed to build momentum towards the parade weekend.
For the active crowd, a series of 'De Workout' events are planned, including advanced and beginner sessions for the Pride Runner's Club (June 2-3) and Pride-themed cycle rides (June 3-4).
The Pride Café series will offer a range of nightlife options, from 'Queer Hitsterbingo XXL' and a Pubquiz to more substantive discussions like 'Let's Kii', a panel on ballroom, pride, and intersectionality on June 5. This is followed by a Whacking Exhibition Battle, showcasing the dance style.
Other notable events include a Consent Workshop by MenAsWell (June 3), multiple Queer City Tours, and a Pathé Pride Night film screening of 'Jimpa' on June 4.
Parade Day: The Celebration on the Canals
Saturday, June 6, marks the centerpiece of Utrecht Pride. The day's events are centred around the canal parade, which officially begins with the ringing of the Domtoren bells.
Alongside the parade, the city will be animated with numerous activities:
- Street Parties: Celebrations will take place across the city, including events at Beton-T and along the Straatweg.
- Safe Space: A 'Pride Dressing Room' will be available at Tigers Gym, providing a designated safe space for attendees.
- Community & Culture: The Jacobikerk and Gertrudiskathedraal will host 'United by U'. For those looking for a permanent souvenir, UTCA Tattoo Studio will hold a Pride Flash Day.
- Dating and Socials: Speed dating sessions for both women seeking women and men seeking men are scheduled for the afternoon.
- Evening Entertainment: The day concludes with a variety of performances, including a 'Pride Riot! Burlesque Show' and 'The Worst Queeraoke', offering a humorous end to the festivities. Festival Tweetakt also contributes several performances throughout the day.
