Family to Create Art Scholarship in Memory of Murry Foust
KENTUCKY, USA – The family of Murry Foust, a 22-year-old transgender art student who was found deceased after a month-long search, has announced plans to establish a scholarship in his name. The fund aims to honor his passion for art and support other students in the community.
Foust, who used he/they pronouns, was a senior majoring in fine arts at Northern Kentucky University. He was last seen on April 27 in Covington, Kentucky. After an extensive search involving community members, his body was discovered on May 24 in a nearby industrial area.
A Legacy Through Art
In a statement, Foust's family shared their heartbreak but also their hope to create a positive legacy. "While our hearts are broken and this is not the outcome we were hoping for, we can only pray that finding them provides closure and comfort to everyone who is hurting," the family wrote.
The Murry Foust Art Scholarship will be funded through donations and the proceeds from sales of his own artwork. The initiative seeks to ensure his creative spirit continues to inspire and assist other aspiring artists. Foust was a talented artist who was scheduled to graduate on May 8, and his work is slated to be featured at the Cincinnati Art Museum’s "Art After Dark" series on May 29.
Friends and classmates have shared memories online, describing a kind and inspirational individual. One friend recalled Foust's generosity and encouragement, writing, "Murry was one of my first friends I made in college, and helped me feel so much more comfortable about myself... They were a big inspiration in my art and I strived to be more like them and try to pour more of my soul into each of my creations as they did."
The Covington Police Department has stated that they do not currently suspect foul play in Foust's death, though a final report from the coroner is still pending. The news has been met with an outpouring of grief from the local community and beyond.
