NOORDWIJK – The foundation Stichting Roze Zaterdagen Nederland has announced that the 2026 edition of Roze Zaterdag (Pink Saturday) will take place in the coastal town of Noordwijk. The event, scheduled for the weekend of June 26-28, 2026, marks a significant departure from tradition, as it is the first time the national Pride event will be hosted in a village rather than a large city.
The theme for the weekend is 'Be Yourself. Be Proud. Be Connected.', reflecting the organisers' intention to create a more intimate and connection-focused gathering. The main activities will be centered around the Koningin Wilhelmina Boulevard, using the North Sea coastline as a backdrop.
A Focus on Connection Over Crowds
In a statement, initiator and chairperson Linda Janmaat explained the vision behind choosing Noordwijk. "Here we celebrate love. Here we celebrate freedom. Here we celebrate you," she stated, emphasizing a desire to move away from the "massiveness and haste" of a large city event. The goal, according to Janmaat, is to foster an atmosphere of "warmth, attention, and small gestures with great meaning."
The organisation aims to integrate the event with the local community, collaborating with residents, entrepreneurs, and social organisations to promote inclusivity and visibility throughout the region.
Three-Day Program Unveiled
The event will span three days, offering a range of activities for attendees:
- Friday, June 26: Culture Day
The weekend will begin with a focus on Noordwijk's local culture, inviting visitors to explore its museums and coastal attractions. The official opening will take place in the evening at De Muze theater with a live ABBA tribute show. - Saturday, June 27: Roze Zaterdag
The main event will feature a full day of programming along the boulevard. The organisation has confirmed it is working closely with the municipality and safety services to ensure a professionally managed and secure event. - Sunday, June 28: Chill Day
The final day is designed for relaxation and reflection. Planned activities include group singing, nature walks, and a large chill-out terrace on the beach with lounge music from a DJ, providing a space for attendees to connect before the weekend concludes.
The move to Noordwijk represents a potential new direction for large-scale Pride events in the Netherlands, testing a model that prioritises community engagement in a smaller, more relaxed setting. Further details on the full program, accessibility, and accommodation will be released on the official Roze Zaterdag Noordwijk website in the coming months.
