The Utrecht-based trans theatre collective WILD Producties is looking for trans and genderqueer performers aged 12 to 100 for its new production, WACHT 2.0. No acting experience is necessary and there are no auditions; everyone who signs up will have a part in the show.
The project involves 22 rehearsals and a series of performances in Utrecht. Participation is based on a pay-what-you-can donation. The collective stresses its commitment to a safe and supportive group atmosphere, and the sign-up form includes space to mention any accessibility needs.

The Kafkaesque reality of waiting
WACHT 2.0 is a multigenerational performance that explores the shared trans experience of waiting. Inspired by Franz Kafka's novel The Trial, the show delves into the often absurd and frustrating world of administrative counters, endless waiting lists, and the bureaucratic systems that dictate when a person is 'allowed' to be themselves.
The production is a larger, more in-depth follow-up to the collective's first show, WACHT, which was created in 2022 with a cast of trans youth. The theme has only grown more urgent since then, as waiting times for trans healthcare in the Netherlands have continued to increase. Using personal stories, absurdist theatre, and physical choreography, the performance aims to portray the mental and physical impact of having your life put on hold.
An award-winning T4T collective
Founded in 2022, WILD Producties is a T4T (for trans, by trans) creative collective made up of professional artists from various performing arts disciplines. They create intimate and disruptive performances that combine dance, physical theatre, and text, bringing together trans people of all ages, from children to octogenarians.
The collective's impact on the community was recognised in October 2026, when they won the Annie Brouwer-Korf prize, an award for individuals and organisations that contribute to the acceptance and visibility of the LGBTQIA+ community in Utrecht. The jury unanimously selected WILD Producties, noting that it is "much more than a theatre production house." They were praised for the support they offer their participants, for creating impressive performances based on themes brought forward by the cast, and for organising a wider programme of social activities and an annual theatre camp.
