Join us for the next gathering of the movie club about gay classics where we will watch a movie - on a 3x2 meter screen, talk about it and about other movies and series we have seen and liked.
It is free to attend. We will gather in a relaxed place next to Westerpark in Amsterdam, drinks and snacks - potluck style.

Gabriel, a closeted 24-year-old anthropologist from a wealthy northeastern Brazilian family, travels to Rio de Janeiro following his grandmother's death. Under the guise of studying sex workers, he meets Adriano, a male escort, sparking a passionate and tumultuous love affair. When Adriano mysteriously disappears, Gabriel's obsession drives him to immerse himself deeper into the world he's studying, eventually becoming an escort himself.
A Brazilian drama directed by Felipe Sholl, starring Caio Macedo and Alejandro Claveaux. The film premiered at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival and is described as an uninhibited portrayal of passion and sex work, and a journey toward self-acceptance.

A mood piece on grief, sexual obsession, carnal desires and toxic relationships, where its ideas aren't merely meant to be thought but to be fully felt.
Competently put together with strong performances. Bereavement is nicely handled through the character of Gabriel, exploring his search for connection and family given his alienation from his own.
It has an intensity that pulled me from the typical inertia of 'festival films'. The physicality of the performances are phenomenal — so visceral the sex, it often doesn't feel simulated.
