During World Pride 2026

In this light, moving solo performance, Barrie Stevens, at 82 years old, takes stock one last time of a rich and unconventional life. As a homosexual man who has seen generations come and go, he looks back on loves, loss, and longing, and on the courage it took to always be himself.

With his own unique personality, Barrie connects his life story with fragments from the work of his great idol: Oscar Wilde. With candid anecdotes from his own life, Barrie weaves humor and melancholy into a personal search for what he ultimately leaves behind.

The Importance of Being Barrie is above all an authentic, inspiring theater performance for everyone. Or as Barrie himself says:

“I hope people go home with a smile, a bit of recognition, and perhaps a new insight.”
