Girls Won’t Be Girls is a place where we come together to catch our breath, to truly see each other, and to feel what femininity means to each of us—or to stretch those ideas thoroughly.
In this special ode to femininity from the creators of Boys Won’t Be Boys (winner of the Winq Culture Award 2024), we break through boundaries, closed doors, and glass ceilings. In each performance, eight ever-changing performers (f/x/m) present a special tribute to femininity in all its forms. Through a mix of music, dance, cabaret, stories, and poetry, you will be moved, laugh out loud, or find yourself thinking about it for days. Sometimes funny, sometimes emotional, and sometimes confrontational. Come listen, laugh, discuss, and retell our story together.
Tip: bring your activist grandmother, your curious friend, or your favorite teenager. The performance is partly in Dutch and partly in English.
"It is particularly impressive how much love comes together in the two hours in which the eight beautiful solos unfold on this premiere evening."

Boys Won’t Be Boys is a social theater movement that has been creating space to break gender norms since 2018. By sharing personal stories, they shake up entrenched ideas and create a connecting space where diversity is celebrated. With their projects, they reflect on outdated views and build a society where freedom and inclusion are the norm. In 2024, they received a Winq Diversity Award for their innovative approach in bringing together the queer and heterosexual communities and their contribution to diversity in the cultural landscape.
